MASSAGE TYPES

There are many types of massages. We will only discuss a few here.

There are massages for relaxation, injury, pain, pregnancy, and much more.

Some various types are:

Swedish, Deep tissue, Pregnancy, Medical, Aromatherapy, Lymphatic, Reflexology.

Arthrossage is specific massage for people suffering from Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis.

Deep tissue uses various massage styles that are directed toward the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia. It doesn't mean deep as in more pressure, just deeper into the fascia.

Lymphatic massage is based on alternate pressure and release movements and light stroking. It is good after certain forms of plastic surgery.

Medical Massage is basically a medically trained massage therapist working within the guidelines set by a physician or chiropractor to assist with curative outcomes. It is not a general relaxation massage; it is anatomically precise and patient specific. The medical massage therapist creates an integrative manual-therapy approach to reducing the patient's soft-tissue related complaints. Massage therapists do not diagnose, they must work from a doctor's prescription if they are claiming to treat a specific condition.

Pregnancy massage is massage for pregnant women. Massage is not done in the 1st trimester. This is due to concern of various risks in early stages of pregnancies, some women have. Some people feel it's better to err on side of caution.

Swedish massage is used and referred mostly as related to relaxing massage. It is really about the type of strokes used. Probably most popular and widely used.
